We have a strong practice in the area of Trusts and Estates. This encompasses the fields of estate administration, estate planning, trusts and several related areas of practice.
In estate planning matters we provide services from the routine to the very complex, such as:
- Drafting simple wills, powers of attorney and health care proxies.
- Planning family finances and transfers of wealth, including preparation of gift tax returns.
- Planning for nursing home care, asset protection trusts, supplemental needs trusts, and the other concerns of the elderly or disabled.
- Advising on and drafting trusts to allow for the needs of family members with special problems and for family education.
- Sophisticated planning to reduce estate tax, maximize the benefits of the unified tax credit and the marital deduction, through trusts and discount techniques.
- Planning use of family partnerships and trusts to reduce later estate tax liability.
- Structuring transfers between spouses to reduce transfer tax exposure.
- Drafting life insurance trusts and long term trusts to avoid multiple transfer taxes and to utilize the generation skipping transfer tax exemption.
- Handling guardianship proceedings on behalf of incompetent or disabled persons.
